The great breeders at Second Generation Genetics were kind enough to answer a few questions about their business, we hope you enjoy the answers

1.In a few sentences, can you tell us where and when you got your start?

JD loves the aroma of weed. That is what got him wanting to grow. He grew up around the smell. JD went to Switzerland in 2001 and met breeder Steve; that’s when he got his start. He made his first cross in 2006.

2.What was the first strain you ever grew?

Quimby; got a clone from a friend.

3.What strains are you most known for?

Farmers Fire (Cherry Pie x Blueberry)

4.When it comes to strain names, do you think it’s best to use a name with the parent plants in mind or generate a new one in terms of taste and high?

It depends on what you’re trying to achieve with the branding. JD likes to keep original breeders in mind when using parent names to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.

5.What motivates you as breeder and grower?

The motivation is to see the plants, the smells, the aromas, and the memories that are made and linked to growing; it is very therapeutic

6.When you approach a new breeding project, what are the Top 3 things you are looking for?

Aroma, Color, Resin Development

7.Do you have any special projects in the works you would be willing to share with us?

JD is working on finding that next male that’s going open up a whole new world for his customers.

Feel free to add any other information.  Thank you!
