In the latest in our series of breeder interviews, the great folks at Raw Genetics were nice enough to answer some of our questions…enjoy

1.In a few sentences, can you tell us where and when you got your start?

The first time I ever made seeds was in Florida. I went from growing 1 light in my closet to 100 lights in a grow operation in California. High times started doing events in Los Angeles. Going to the event, I met many breeders, got some different packs, and started my journey.

2.What was the first strain you ever grew?

Purple Kush in my closet in Orlando under a 1000-watt light. I would also get random bag seeds and pop them as well.

3.What strains are you most known for?

Stuffed French toast, sunset struddle, crumb cake.

4.When it comes to strain names, do you think it’s best to use a name with the parent plants in mind or generate a new one in terms of taste and high?

Whichever one sounds and feels the best. Personally, I like to create a name that fires the profile of the plant when hunting.

5.What motivates you as breeder and grower?

It’s competitive. I enjoy working with the plants and being able to find the different expressions that come from the plants when hunting.

6.When you approach a new breeding project, what are the Top 3 things you are looking for?

Uniqueness, terpene profile, structure, performance of the plants

7.Do you have any special projects in the works you would be willing to share with us?

Sour apple / strawberry males have been hunted for future crosses!

Feel free to add any other information.  Thank you!

Favorite growing medium? Pro mix

Favorite Light? LED / Gavitas HPS

One thing that you would tell anyone that bought a pack of your seeds?

Don’t drown your seeds – happy hunting.

Also, I want to say thank you to everyone that invested their time or money in Raw Genetics. Thank you to anyone that popped some of our gear. We are going to continue to do our best to bring unique genetics to the market and serve the community.
